Avioniq steps up sponsorship commitment to racing talent Linus Lundqvist

The software developer becomes Event Title Sponsor for the Swedish driver during the Indy Lights season finale. The hunt for victories and a future drive in Indycar is intensified.

Sweden's next racing star is most likely called Linus Lundqvist. Over the past five years, the 22-year-old from Tyresö, Sweden, has won three championships in three different countries. In 2016 he won the Formula STCC Nordic and in 2018 he took the title in the British Formula 3, one of the most prestigious junior championships in the world. In 2020, the drivers focus shifted to the American racing scene, where he dominated Formula Regional Americas with victories in 15 of the season's 17 races.

"Avioniq has been around since the beginning of my international racing career. They are, for sure, my most passionate fans. Their support, from the financial arrangement to the unique strategic expertise that a team of fighter pilots armed with supercomputers bring to the venture, is of course invaluable." says Linus Lundqvist.

In 2021 Lundqvist competes in Indy Lights, the racing series closest to the top tier Indycar. So far this year he has delivered ten podium finishes and two race wins. Ahead of the season finale, a double-header at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, a third-place finish in the championship is already sealed. Lundqvist has thus also secured the next important step of his career. A hotly sought-after Indycar test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (road course) looms on October 29.

"We saw early on that Linus would go far. Being a racing driver is not unlike being a fighter pilot and he has all the good qualities required. The ability to be close to the edge, but not cross over it, to learn from your mistakes, to give everything and never give up – the same set of values that all of us at Avioniq live by." says Mikael Grev, CEO, Avioniq. Avioniq is now stepping up its commitment by taking on the role of Event Title Sponsor for Linus Lundqvist, as the young Swede's career enters the next phase.

"Linus Lundqvist is an exceptional talent with a strong winner instinct. He is now firmly knocking on the Indycar-door and the fan club here at Avioniq see exciting opportunities. Our fingers are crossed for a successful season finale, and later we look forward to a great testing performance on the IMS road course, where Linus won from pole position earlier this year," concludes Grev.
