Avioniq receives new contract for Rattlesnaq decision support software

Kista, SWEDEN [January 28, 2025]: Avioniq is pleased to announce that it has signed a new contract with an unnamed customer to supply its Rattlesnaq combat aircraft decision support system. The contract is valued in the region of USD $2 million with deliveries set to complete within 2025.

Rattlesnaq is a software-based decision support system that delivers superior situational awareness for fighter pilots, increasing the efficiency, survivability and lethality of airborne assets in both offensive and defensive scenarios. The system conducts continuous simulations of enemy platforms, weapons and sensors in the aircraft’s immediate and beyond line-of-sight battlespace. This tactical data is presented to the pilot as a live threat level picture that shows threats and opportunities in the battlespace, in order to enable increased proximity to the enemy and optimal path to target without increased risk.

Rattlesnaq’s algorithms and onboard data processing can also provide the tactical data required to enable Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) and Loyal Wingman assets to operate together safely and effectively, with increased survivability.

In this scenario, in addition to presenting the live threat level to the pilot of the manned combat aircraft, Rattlesnaq calculates the same information for each UAS and delivers it to its autonomous flight control system. This gives each aircraft the tactical information required to operate safely in formation, avoid battlefield threats, and increase proximity to target without adding to the cognitive burden of the lead aircraft pilot; enabling the pilot to focus on the overall mission while ensuring that each aircraft within the CCA group will respond optimally to the evolving tactical situation in order to achieve the mission.

Rattlesnaq has proven its force multiplying effects in trials with 4th/5th Gen NATO air force fleets.

Mikael Grev, Founder and CEO of Avioniq, said: “In combat operations pilots are making thousands of decisions on how to complete their mission successfully, and learning to do that effectively requires hundreds of flight hours in the cockpit. Rattlesnaq offloads the lower-level decisions from the pilot’s cognitive burden, allowing them to focus on the mission itself rather than how to achieve it. This provides vastly improved conditions for mission success - and offers a compelling solution for the force multiplying opportunities of future combat CCA operational concepts.”
